CIVIC THEATRE
One of the most colourful male icreen rolers of the year — the dasliing, immensely rich, immensel.v powerful Major Augustus ParkingIton of the Louis Bromfield novel, '"Mrs. Parkington" — went to WalLer Pidgeon, thereby re-uniting for Ihe fourth time the combination i which made screen history in "Mrs. Miniver," "Madame Curie" and "Blossoms in the Dust." For both Garson and Pidgeon, the film represents a distinct departure from any of their previous "husband and wife" portrayals for fire, gaiety and worldiness are the dominating characteristics of the Parkingtons. Agnes Moorehead is seen to advantage as a clever Frenchwoman who becomes Susie's closest friend, although she. has been the Major's lover. Australian Cecil Kellaway essays the role .of the Prince of Wales and others importantly cast include Edward Arnold, Donna Reed, Gladys Cooper, Tom Drake and Peter Lawford. Don't hesitate. Reserve those seats now.
