LEVIN METHODISM

. QUAPvTERLY MEETING HELD The quarterly meeting of mernbers of the Levin Methodist Church was held recently, when the Rev. H.« S. Kings presided over a good attendance and also conducted the devotional service. The membership stands as at the last quarter. The balance sheet presented by the financial stewards showed a satisfactory credit balance. As the meeting was the first since the induction of Mr. Kings as minister, he was welcomed by Mr. F. H. Hudson. Mr. Kings replied suitably. Some apologies for absence were received, and it was decided to send letters of goodwill to Mr. D. Sorenson and Miss P. Herbert, of Tauranga, a former member of the choir, upon the death of her father. The envelope steward reported a decrease in subscribers, through death and other eauses. A committee of ways and means was appointed to become onerative after a leaders' meeting. Pending the purchase of a car, the minister's travelling allowance was paid as usuel. to enable him1 to make district and hospital visits. Thanks were expressed to the Rev. E. T. King for services rendered during the illness of the church's own minister. Permission was granted for the holding of a home mission effort during the coming quarter. Appeals were received from the Fund for the Re-Construction of British Churches, the , National Couneil pf Churches, Theological Couneil f'or Trinity College Sunday and the War Services Chaplaincy Fund. It was decided to send £2 2s to each appeal. The youth appeal received/ the usual consid^ eration. The Sunday school report was satisfactory. Bible class interest was reported to be increasing under the leadership of Mr. Geoff. Spencer, who is to continue leadership of the juniors in the meantime. At the close of the meeting. those present were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Kings.
