COSTLY MEAT STRIKE
BR1SBAXE, July 10. The meat strike, whicli has lasted for 19 weeks, is estimated to have cost £+,000,000. • The strike is considered to be the longest and most costlv in Queensland "s history. Two thousand miners and 3500 watersiders struck in sympathy with the nieatworkers and ] 00,000 other workers lost their jobs hecause of power and transport restrictions. The total estimated wage losses are: Aleatworkers, £500,-000, . watersiders, £150,000; miners, £100,000; others, £100,000. Cattle awaiting slaughter have lost condition amounting to a value of £1,000,000, and meat export conipanies have suli'ered to the extent of another £1,000,000.
