HOROWHENUA'S SUPPLY CUT
In common with Auckland, Hutt, Manawatu and other supply authorities, the Horowhenua Eleetrie Power Board was I yesterday notified by the Load ' Controller of a further reduct:.on in its allocation of electricity. In consequence severe rationing may become necessary in the next few days. • The board's managing-secre-tary (Mr. R. A. Frederikson) explained to-day that the normal daily consumption in the district at this time of the lyear was 70,000 units. This had been reduced to 68,000 units, equivalent to 5 per cent. The latest cut had given the board an allocation of 64,000 iimts, which represented a reduction o.f 10 per cent. on the total required to meet the normal demand. Mr. Frederikson said that with the present mild. weather and a continuance of economy by consumers, it might be possible to get through with the oresent cut-off of half an hour j daily over the whole district. iChould the weather become cold, however, an equivalent icut to one hour or more daily . over the district seemed inevitable.
