AUCKLAND,. July 8. On top of the intensification of cuts which was decided 011 by the Auckland Eleetrie Power Board, this morning eame direction from the Load Despateher that from tomorrow the Board must save half as niuch again. The notice, wliich was described by the general manager of the Board, Mr. E. H. Bartiey, as a shock, was general to all supply authorities and was received by both the Auckland and Waitemata Boards, early in the afternoon. No r'ain has fallen at Taupo or Mangahao where storage is almost nll, stated the latest message from. the Load Despateher. Ooal stocks at Kings Wharf are very low and to safeguard the future position it is necessary to make further reductions in the allocation. "Por years past the Public "Works Department has been gambling on a large amount of water in the lakes and now that gamble is telling against them," said Mr. Harbutt. O11 his motion it was decided to prepare a strongly worded remit for the annual conference of the Power Boards and Supply Authorities of New Zealand in September, urging the -Government to instal an additional ther-mo-generating plant as early as possible to supplement the hy.dro scheme.
