WAIMEHA'S EASY WIN

OTAKI JUNIORS BEATEN Waimeha juniors had the better of the play from start to finish in their match with Otaki, and it was only occasionally 'that Otaki proved dangerous. Otaki kicked off with the sun at their backs, but Waimeha went to attack almost immediately with a series of ioose rushes. Otaki players speculated freely, and as a result of indifferent play were forced to their line, 1 aceepting a touch-down to save. > OIT-side play by Otaki saw Thomas I have an unsuccessful shot at goal. ; and Otaki accepted its second force-down. both within a space of 1 five minutes. By a supreme effort, Otaki forced Waimeha to half-way, due chiefly to a long kick by Con- . nor. Waimeha again broke away in a loose rush, and this was followed , ; by a good passing rush, the ball g ing through several hands. A loose rush by Otaki was the next t move, but the ball was again . Quickly in the Otaki territory. Waimeha, by keeping up the pressure, enabled Grigg to score. Otaki was still penned in their own territory and eventually H. Fairley went over. Thomas converting with a good kick. For a brief period Otaki attacked, but it was sliort lived. At this stage Waimeha was liaving all the advantage, chiefly by securing the ball from the scrum

and setting their backs in action While the vanguard played splendidly the back division made no mistakes, their passing being accurat and clean. The spell ended witl" the score Waimeha 11, Otaki nil. Waimeha started off at a grea pace in the second half, and los almost a certain try by off-sid-play. While on attack the visitor were awarded a free kick, whicl was entrusted to Thomas, whc instead of kicking for goal, sent th' ball to his forwards, and soon afte P. Waimehwere having all the better of th game, and for a breach by Otak Thomas kicked another penalk goal, making the score 17 — 0 ii Waimeha's favour. Otaki reversec play and went on a.ttack, showiiv some dashing play, and while in th visitors' territory, Taratoa had r place at goal, but the ball dropper short. To the end of the game play was chiefly in Waimeha's favour Mr. Les. Smith was referee.
