MANAWATU'S LUCKY WIN
Saturday's Rugby Games Playing their first representaJ. tive game of the season, the Horowhenua seniors were unlucky to lose to Manawatu by 14 points to 15 when they met at Palmerston North on Saturday. Manawatu scored tliree tries, one of which was converted, and kicked a field goal, while Horowhenua's points came from an unconverted try, a penalty kick and two field goals. All senior championship games , ^ were cancelled because of the rep- "> resentative fixture, but the junior and third grade competitions were continued as usual. The northern section of the junior cliampionship entered the third and final round, and with Wanderers four points ahead of Foxton and holding an unbeaten record, only a miracle can' prevent them winning the honours. A similar position exists in the southern division, which completed its second round with Saturday's games. Waimeha have a six-point lead over Rahui, and it is unlikely that their aspirations will be upset. It still remains for the Horowhenua Rugby Union to decide how the final between the twc divisions is to be determined. The second round of the third grade cliampionship was also completed. though College A and College B have yet to meet. However, it does not appear as if this match will have any bearing on the result of the competitioii, as College A are five points ahead of College B and they in turn have a two-point lead over Athletic.
