SHANNON SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MONTIILY MEETING l The monthly meeting of the 1 Shannon School Committee was held in the 'school on Monday evening. Mr. Jeffrey presided and those present were Mrs. C. Stern and Messrs. S. Free, E. Wilson, E. Barber, F. Bradley, M. Bowler and F. Peni. The headma.ster (Mr. Dickensen) was also in attendance. An apology was received from Mr. F. J. Lucinsky, who is on holiday. It was deeided to again hold the usual calf club competitions this year and Mr. Free. and Mr. Jeffrey were appointed to register and mark the calves. A suggestion .t.liat, the dental .qlXnjc^ buildings should be shifted from Tts present site 'to a position near the schoolhouse was discussed, and the matter was left over until a later date. It was advised that the plumbing repairs had been carried out to the school buildings and the arrangements in connection witn the cutting of the firewood was left in the hands of Messrs. Bradley and Barber. Messrs. Free and Bradley wero appointed visiting eommitteemen for the month. Mr. Dickenson advised that Mr. McSweeny had left the teaching staff during the month and had been transferred to Maharahara School, Dannevirke, where he has been appointed headmaster. Miss • A. Russell, formerly of Linton, had arrived to join the teaching staff. A number of eommitteemen spoke in high praise of Mr. McSweeny's work during the time he was stationed at Shannon.
