Flag 500 Winners The winners of the flag 500 held in Laurvig's Hall on Monday evening by the woraen's seetion of the R.S.A. were Mesdames A. and F. Thomson and Messrs. A. R. Walker and R. Roberts.
Fertiliser- by Road Owing to the shortage of goods trains, fertiliser is now oeing transported by road. Yesterday a number of Shannon carriers made a trip to Wanganui, returning with a full load of super. As fertiliser has been in very short supply, farmers will welcome this unexpected supply. Fat for Britain At a meeting of the Shannon branch of the Federated Farmers, held 011 Saturday evenmg, a proposal to co-operate with tne Snannon Red Cross committee in thc collecting of fat for Britain was enthusiastically discussed by members. It was suggested that a bulk depot should be established wnerc contributions of fats could be left, and the containers taken home by the donors. Arrangements are in band for the establishment of a depot, the site of whieh will be advised later.
