POWER POSITION PRECARIOUS

SERIOUS CUTS AGAIN LIKELY A telegram received yesterday by the Horowhenua Electric Power Board from the Loa'd Con- ' troller advised that owing to the continued absence of rain in the Taupo area and the consequent low level of the iake, it' would be necessary 'to increase the ration- ' ing of power to this district. Commenting on the position, the board's managing secretary (Mr. R. A. Frederikson) foreeasted further severe cut-offs. He said that during the past few weeks the board had just managed, by a certain amount of rationing and economies affected by consumers, to keep within its allocation. If the board's allocation was further reduced, it appeared inevitahle that the severe cut-offs of six weeks ago would have to be reimposed, He niade an appeal to consumers to save electricity wherever possible.
