LEVIN MUSIC CLUB
. -v — ENJOYABLE EVENING On Tuesday last, the Levin Music Club held its first meeting in the Presbyterian Hall. Formerly members had met in private homes, but as the club has grown so rapidly it was decided to hold a trial evening in a hall. The president, Miss A. Aim, welcomed a large number of members and guests and Mrs. W. O. Neas -and Miss J. Munro acted as hostesses. During the evening Miss Aim made reference to the departure of Mr.s. A. G. Mitchell, a valued member, who had left to reside in Palmerston North. An album of songs was forwarded to Mrs. Mitchell as a token of appreciation from members. As the venture proved to be so successful, it was decided to hold the next meeting in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday, July 31. This will be a "Contemporary Composers" evening, and guests will again be very welcome.
The following programme was presented: — Pianoforte duets, "Morning Mood" (Grieg) and "Elea^ior," Mesdames. F. ,S. Allen, and F. Routley; song, "Adelaide" (Beethoven), Mrs. M. Smith; songs, "Songs my Mother Taught Me" (Dvorak) and "The Star" (James Roger) ; pianoforte, "Dance Creole" (Chaminade), Miss A. Aim; pianoforte, ' "Cappriccio" "(Donanyi), Miss J. Davie; songs, "Love Song" (Brahms) and "Just a Bowl of Roses" (Dor.othy Foster) , Mrs. H. Easton; pianoforte, "Sonata" (Scarlatti), Miss D. Nalder; musical monologue, "Blind," and humorous recital, "Her first call on the Butcher," Mrs. A. Haley; songs, "Arise O Sun" (Day) and "My Treasure" (Trevalso), Mrs. I. Taylor; songs, "Lullaby" (Mozart) and "The River and the Sea" (Noel Johnson), Miss J.. Munro.
