RESIGNATION DEMANDED
(DALL TO HOSPITAL BOARD Received Mondav, 7.5 p.m. SYDNEY, June 24. Tlie immediate resignation of the MacLeay District Hospital Board for having forcibly ejected Sistcr Painga Swift from the Ivempsey Ilospital has lieen deinanded by a piiblic meeting in Rempsey of 300 citizens. Sister Swift, who was Ihe. central figure in the strike which followed her dismissal because of "subversive activities, " is now reinstated on tho order ,of the . Hospitals Commission, pending the Arbitration Court hearing of the dipute. After ealling on the board to resign, the public meeting decided that a new iioai'd should be'appoihted. by a furthe'r meeting, and recommended that nurses' representatives should be allowed on the board. "Sister Swift will go down in posterity in Australia as the equal of Elorence Nightingale, " said oue npeaker, "for she made a courageous siand for better conditions."
