NEW PLYMOUTH, Jnne 17, Fines totalling £9 were iqflict'ed at New Plymouth today on tlre Stratford draperv iirm of R. II. White antj Co. Ltd'., for offering goods for sale at a price exee'edingr that allowed bv t'he Price Tribnnal. The charges, which were admitted, were laid undef the Control of Priees Eniergency Regulations 1938. The Price Tribunal inspector found that the purehase price, including saies tax, of a froclc marlced £5 11 (3d was £3 ls 9d. With a 50 per cent. approved Inerease, the maximun] price should have been £4 12s. In this case the Company explained that the wrong price was due to an error m calculation by an assistant who marked the price. Two other charges coneerned women 's corsets which defendant pleaded had been in stoclc since 194-3 and were ul saleable. They were not sold to anyone but were found among other garments in the racks.
