NEW LIGHTWEIGHT METAL
' * ^ A literal interpretation of "light house-work" is promised to all" housewiyes in the near future, if they are able to procure the new lighter-weight furniture, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, and many more household appliances which are to be produced in overseas factories. The metal to be used is magnesium, which, when alloyed with other metals, provideS a material of remarkable lightness und strength. - A third lighter than -aluminium, and four times lighter than steel, the possible uses of magnesium include prams and pushchairs (which are lighter than the baby), lawn mowers, wheelbarrows, typewriters, scooters, roller skates, tricycles, and garden tools. v Sports equipment, such as skis, ski sticks, and even baseball bats made of the magnesium product have stood up under practical tests.
