COLLEGE OLD PUPILS
ASSOCIATXON EXECUTIVE MEETS A meeting of the executive committee of the Hprowhenua College Old Pupils' Association was held on Friday. Those present were: Mr. Marsden Staples ( chairman ) , j Misses E. Hocking, M. Karauti, D. Rowe, R. Hinckesman, J. W00^mass, and G. France, and Messrs. A. Haley,.I. Hudson, B. Vallance, J. Penny and D. Miines. Apoiogies were received from Misses Browning and Bov/ater. The chairman referred to the death of the association's patron, Mr. W. D. Thomas, and members stood in silence as a mark of respect. The enthusiasm, sympathy and splendid influence of Mr. Thomas had been largely responsible for the sound organisation of the association. A letter was received from the Old Boys' Cricket Club requesting that a grant be made, as in the case of j the Old Boys' Football Club. The ! request was complied with, it being j decided that a grant of £5 be made j to the club. It was decided to hold a dance in, the College Assembly Hall on May 17, when buses will run from Shannon and Otaki for the occasion. - Before the meeting closed, the chairman reminded members that Barry Vallance was sailing for Australia next week, and the present meeting would be his last before leaving. Mr. Staples then presented Mr. Vallance with a silver stud box. and thanked him for his willing and valuable help given since. the form"ation of the Old Pupils' Association. The chairman also expressed the regret of the committee at the j departure of Mr. Vallance, and wished him the best of luck in his venture in Australia. Mr. Vallance, in reply, thanked the members for their gifts and wished the .association a successful future.
