LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
"McCREADY FAN."
^ WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP Dear Sir— In Iast Thursday's sports review, I noticed in regard to wrestling "another notable importation will be Jack Katan, who will be remembered for his defeat of Earl McCready in 1940. Katan still holds the title which he won from McCready." I wish to correct that statement. Although Katan did beat McCready for the British Empire Championship, McCready won it back. Here are the records of the Katan-McCready matches: — May 27, at Wellington, drawn, no falls (title match) ; June 22, at Auckland, drawn, one fall each (Empire title) ; July 8, at Wellington, to Katan, one , fall to nil (Empire title); July 22, at Wellington, drawn, .no falls (Empire title) ; August 12, at Wellington, to McCready, a fall each but won on points; September 16, at Wellington, drawn, no falls (Empire title) ; September 24, at Dunedin, to McCready, one fall to nil (Empire title) . " Therefore, at Dunedin, McCready beat Katan in the Empire title match and McCready is the champion. Yours etc.,
Levin, April 10.
