AUSTRALIA TO BUY RUSSIAN TIMBER
O — Roceived Wednesday, 8.10 p.m. CANBERRA, April 10. Approval has heen given for the purchase of up to 100,000,000 supel feet of timber from Russia, according to the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Lazzarini. Negotiations for the purchase of timber are still in progress. Many difficulties, including the enormous Russian home demand, are holding up the purchase. A number of licences have also heen issued for the importation of timber from Canada and the United States, and inquiries have been made as far afield as Sweden.
