By Telegraph-
TAIHAPE, April 10. Mr. C. A. Stewart, in asking the chairman of the Red Cross SubOentre the cost of food from New Zealand to Europe, said it had been stated at a Farmers' Federation xrieetmg to be £1 per pound of food. The chairman (Mr. A. James) said that there was no information of the cost. Throughout the world miilions of pounds had been raised, but he. knew tne costs of handling were far greater than the food vaiue. Mr. Stewart commented that it was a wonder the shipping companies did not make reduction in freight charges to help these starving people get food.
