( AUCKLAND,. April 8. ' Two men, Cyril Joseph Bogue, a car penter, aged 24, aud Riehard lan Hall, a/labourer, aged 27, appeared before Justiees this morning, answering to 11 charges of breaking, entering ,aud theft, vone charge of*. breaking and entering with intent to eommit a crime and three charges of . obtaining goods by means of fraudulent cheques. The offences were alleged to have occurred between September 14, 1945, and Aiarch 22, 1940. The offences, 'Which occurred in Auckland, Whangarei and Pukekohe, involved thefts of monev, hardware, motor cars and miscellaneous goods. The firms involved included W. Lambourne, Ltd., from whose premises inoney and goods of a total value of £1122 were taken. Senior-detective Aplin produced a schedule detailing the offences referred to in the charges. Monev and propertv of a total value of £2411 had been taken by the two men, of which propertv valued at £1230 had been recovered. Burnage to the extent of '£89 had been done in committing the offences, and aceused had received £28 from the saies 'of stolcn good. Seuior-Detective Aplin said a quantity' df 'the .stolcn goods had been' recovered frora'Ha.lJ and more had been found in the possession of Bogue. • In wptten .statemepts both men admitted the thefts. It was ievealed that the subject of breaking into Lambourne's .had been' discussed, and Bogue hid .Jjyiiself . under a bed in the premises until the staff had departed. He fouhd it diflicult to opeu the inain doors, but later opened on.e at the side aud ihe .premises were rans'acked. In a wallet in the oftice tliev found 20 £50 uo,tes which .they took, tis well as watches and othei' goods. Hall stated that they did not shafe Ihe money, but.used it as lequircd. It was spent 011 races and other pleasures and all the £50 notes were caslied in iuuiks in the city. Bogue stated that he had used some of the money stolen from Lambourne 's to take a trip to Hasings and Napier at (Jhristmas. Bome had also been spent at Ihe races aiul raking tourist trips. Both men pleaded guiltv and were committed to the Bupreme Gourt for sentence.
