SEQUEL TO CHANGES IN ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES

AUCKLAND, April 7. Oue effect of the new electoral houndaries announced last week has heen the inclusion in numhers of instances of licensed hotels in electorates which in the past have heen no-licence districts. One case in the Auckland area occurred when the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, in Symonds Street, was moved from Auckland Oentral to Arch Hill, an electorate which is largely composed of no-licence areas. Nq alteration has heen caused, however, through the electoral boundary changes. The likelihood of such instances occurring was forecast when the Electoral Amendment Bill was passed in the last session of Parliament. The Bill provided that no-licence districts would remain as defined by the existing electoral houndaries and would not he altered to bring the areg,s into line with the new electorates.
