OTAKI VISITS KARORI
Six rinks from the Otaki Club paid a visit to Karori' on Saturday and spent a delightful outing in perfect weather, while the hospitality of the ' home ciub was most marked. During the day morning and afternoon teas were served, and at mid-day a fine luncheon, the home players doing the honours. The green was infine order and games were greatly enjoyed. Mr. Dallas, president of the Karori Club, extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, speaking appreciatively of the fact that OtaKi had ■ foregone another appointment to j travel to Karori, The.matches with! i otaki were always looked iorward| ! to and were enjoyed. He said that it W.as not so much the result of the games that counted, but the fact that fellowship was renewed. General Young, on behalf of the Otaki Club, in returning thanks, stated that members of his club > fully appreciated the hospitality of i the Kaori Club, and his members ! were delighted to make the trip. He ! thanked the home club for its hospitality, backed up by lady sup-
porters. It was mentioned that all arrangements had been left in the capable hands of Mr. Bartlett, and this member was accorded hearty applause. In expressing thanks Mr. Bartlett gave the lady supporters credit for the fine way in which they had worked. Following are the results of the games played: — Avery, Olliver, Winterburn, McGilligan (s) beat Curtis, Watchman, Scott, Dunbar (s) 24 — 21. This game was 11-all on the 12th head, 16-all on the 17th and 21-all on the 21st, but on an extra head being played Otaki scored a three. Buxton, Snowden, Nicolson, Hurrell (s) drew with Debreceny, Best, Field, Fisher (s). Otaki had an early lead, but Karori had an advantage of 9 — 4 011 the 7th head, 16—9 on the 13th, 25—11 on the 19th and 25 — 15 on the 21st, but on extra heads being played Otaki scored ten to make the game a draw. „T, .. , Merwood, Pullman, Whitehorn, Simcox (s) lost to Dallas, Smith, Matthews, Henderson (s), 23—24. This was an even contest throughout. Karori had a lead of one ort the ninth head, 19 — 17 on the 18th and 22 — 19 on the 21st. The extra heads saw Otaki gain, but Karori won by a point. Moss, Lambess, Evans, Wilson (s) beat Simpson, Gregg, Scobie, Oldaker (s) , 24—14. Otaki were down 9 — 2 on the sixth head, but gained on the next four heads, carrying their score to 14 — 9 on the 12th head and finally winning 24 — 14. Wilkinson, Whitelaw, Young, Merwood (s) beat Hopkins, Wilkie, Zak, Cathie (s) 19—12. Otaki established an early lead, and led 11 — 5 on the tenth head and 18 — 11 on the 19th. J. Noble, Keay, Lowry, Grey (s) lost to Hendle, Maynard, Bartlett, Harper (s) , 13—37. Karori established a 10—0 lead in the first six heads. The score was 18 — 6 on the tenth, 25—10 on the 16th, 30—13 on the 21st and finally 37 — 13. Games: Otaki 3£, Karori 2b. Points : Otaki 129, Karori 134.
