MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Shannon branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers'-Union was held in Laurvig's Hall on Monday afternoon, when Mrs. C. Guerin presided over a large gathering of members. Mrs. A. Birss was welcomed back after being absent for sorne time owing to illness. Two new members were welcomed, Mrs. Stevens, of Kingston Road, and Miss Doreen V/ard. Mrs. Thom, a Christchurch visitor, was also present. A delightfui afternoon tea was served, after which Mrs. Guerin gave a most interesting report of the Dominion executive meetingheld in Wellington recently. During the afte/noon Mrs. Grey, who has always been a willing worker both in the W.D.F.U. and the town of Shannon, was farewelled. Mrs. Grey was the secretary of the very successful flower show held early in the month. A number of speakers expressed regret that Mrs. Grey was leaving the district, and wished her success in her new home. She was then .presented with a box of flowers and a divisional badge by members. In her reply, Mrs. Grey said she was -sorry to leave Shannon, and that her happy association with the Shannon division would always be remembered. Mrs. Guerin reminded members of the garden party which was being held at the division rest-home, Kaianga-Moe, on March 28.
