BASKETBALL CLUB
A large number of basketball enthusiasts gathered in the council chambers on Monday evening to discuss the future of basketball in Shannon. Miss R. Haley occupied the chair. In the absence of Miss J. Clough, the secretary, the minutes of the 1945 meeting were read by Mrs. D. Gyae, who reported that the club's banking account showed a credit balance. It was decided to open the club again this year on a date to be arranged later. . Two "A" grade teams and a "B" grade team are to 'be entered in the Horowhenua competitions. The following were elected offi--cers for the coming season: — Secretary: Miss P. Small; treasurer: Miss H. Gardner; committee: Mrs. Mortimer, Misses J. Pigott, M. Jameson, J. Parr, R. Haley, P. Gunning and A. Pedersen; delegates to the Horowhenua Basketball Association: Mrs. Gyde, Misses A. Pedersen, M. Jameson and J. Pigott. A working bee was arranged for Saturday, March 30, to prepare thecourts for play. It was decided to hold a dance during April to assist the club in raising funds.
