CLASH BETWEEN ITALIANS AND YUGOSLAVS Received Monday 8.10 p.m. \ LONDON, March 25.. Marshal Tito said that a joint communiquu "on the Czechoslovakian-Yugo-slav Treaty, similar to the Poiish- Yugoslav Treaty, would be issued today. Street fighting occurred in the heart of Trieste yesterday and the situation at one time was ugly when Italian clemonstrators clashed with Yugoslav sympathisers, says the Trieste correspondent of the Times. British garrison police were- forccd to intervene to resture order. The Italians, in the greatest outburst of pro-Itaiian feelings yet witnessed in the city marched in a procession at least two miles long, waving Italian flags and shouting pro-Italian slogans. Italian fl°gs, vhich pre/iously were not seen, magically appeared at thousands of winaows in an impressive demonstration of hifcherto suppressed proItalian sentiment. • Yugoslav sympathisers staged a counter-demonstration with the reburial of twelve Partisans who perished during the German occupation. The British local police had a strenuous time keeping the two processions apart. Scuffles and stone-throwing occurred at severai points.
