LINESMAN'S LUCKY ESCAPE
CONTACT WITH -POWER LINE Coming into contact with a 230volt power service line ye^tercfay afternoon, Mr. D. Corner, a marned man employed as a linesman by the (Horowhenua Electric Power Board, had a lucky escape due to prompt actioh by a feliow workman. Tne accident occurred -in Robinson Street, Foxton, shortly after 2 p.m. With Mr. P. Goldsmith, Mr. Corner was engaged in .ereemng a,n extra line. B.ot-h pien jyer,e at the top of dirier.ent .poies and Corner was transferring the wire over •the cross-arm when his arm •cpntacted the 230-volt service line, giving him a shock which apparentlv rendered him unconscious. AoLracted by the unfortunate man's call', Mr. Goldsmith quickly went to his aid and brought Mr. Corner to ihe ground. Medical assistance was called and it was found that Mr. Corner had sufi'ered bad bums to one hand and both arms. He was conveyed by amoulance tp the Palmerston North Hospital, where his condition was leported as not serious.
