HYMN TEST DECIDED AT BAND CONTEST

CHRISTCHURCH, March. 17. The New Zealand Victory Band Contest was opened at Lancaster Park this afternoon by the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Andrews). It was a brilliantly line afternoon and fully 12,000 attended to see and hear the 28 bands take part m the hymn eontest, which occupied the vvhole afternoon. The bands, with their smart bearing and vivid uniforms, presented a colourful and iinpressive speetacle. Results of the hymn test (A, B and C grade for the McLeod Cup) were: — Pts.
