WELLINGTON, March 18. Te .Aro Post Office, Wellington, was burgled during the week-end and the safe blown open. It is believed that about £600 was stolen. ? The burglary was discovered when the staft arrived this morning, -and the police were notified. Two hourS -later a large sum of money, including banknotes of £50 denomination and hundreds of pennies, had been recovered by the police. The post .office was closed at noon on Saturday and the money was locked away, the safe being blown either on Saturday or last night. About £600 was stolen, but a further sum totalling nearly £1200 was missed, even though to obtain it all that was necessary was to open a drawer at the bottom of the safe. . An arrest was.madb to-day of a man who had a .38 calibre 12-round automatic and a .22 revolver, both fully loaded. It is understood that further arrests are imminent.
