MAN DIES FROM WOUND

YOTJNGER MAN LATER CHARGED. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 17. Found at about 1.30 p.m. on Saturday with a vvound in his abdomen, Ira Stanley Charles Cullen, of Manunui, a market gardener, aged 60, married, died in the Taumarunui llospital at 5.20 p.m. the sanie da}\ Newton Thomas Lowe, of Manunui, a boiler attendant, aged about 30, married, with two children, previously employed by the Lllis Veneer Companv, of Manunui, was subsequently arrested and charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm. He will appear in the Magistrate 's Court at Taumarunui tomorrow. Cullen leased part of the raeeeourse at Manunui from the Taumarunui Borough Council and lived with his two sons and' daughter in a house on that 'property. It is stated that, after there had been an argument, his 14-year-old daughter, Phyllis, left and went to Lowe's house, almost opposite Cullen 's. A telephone call was received by Constable G. Edwards, of Aianunui, from Cullen rcquesting that he go to Cullen 's house. Cullen was subsequently found wounded, at a point near the Manunui Primary School where he had collapsed, and Constaole Edwards, who had been unable to comply immediately with Cullen 's earlier request, was notified. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he died.
