THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND

LADIES' GUILD MEETS The Church of England Ladies' Guild held a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, over which Mrs. E. L. Hyde presided, a large number being present. The secretary (Mrs. Parr) - read the minutes of the last meeting which were confirmed. It was decided to hold two competitions during the month, one being for something to be made from waste material, the result being by popular vote. The winner of Wednesday's competition was Mrs. Allan. Brisk business was done at the bring-and-buy stall, where everything was sold. It was'agred that Mrs. Hyde and Mrs. Parr should buy wool to be distributed among the knitters at the next meeting. Three new members were wel'comed. The hostess for the afternoon (Mrs Chester) supplied all with a delightful afternoon tea. The hostesses for the next meeting are to be Mesdames P. Wright and D. Jones. The Rev. J. H. Datson was also present.
