Porta to live in N.Z.?
PA Auckland Hugo Porta, one of the best five-eighths in world rugby, is thinking of settling in New Zealand. The Argentinian captain, who has brought his wif' and two children on a rugby-playing holiday, said that settling in New Zealand appealed to him. “I like it very much ,here,” said Porta. “I still have my architect business in Buenos Aires, so shifting to New Zealand would not be easy; but if the right offer came, who knows?” Porta, who first toured New Zealand with the Pumas in 1979 and has since made trips for special matches, will join the New Zealand Barbarians for four matches in March. The Barbarians* first match will be against Auckland on March 13, to mark the installation of new floodlighting at Western Springs. Porta will then join the Barbarians’ tour, which will include matches against a Hawke’s Bay XV at Napier on March' 16; against Poverty Bay at Gisborne on March 19; and against Harlequins at Hamilton on March 22. Porta, aged 34, hinted that he might be nearing the end of his career.
