Trot Conference to control official paper
By

The Trotting Conference will, from August 1 next, have complete control over the publication of its official organ, the “Trotting Calendar.” The executive, at its meeting in Auckland last week, decided not to renew the contract of New Zealand Hamess Racing Publicity, Ltd, the company which produces the publication. The present contract expires on July 31 next. The executive was not dissatisfied with the pre-
sent set-up, but the public relations sub-committee felt that more use should be made of the publication as a promotional medium for trotting, said the chief executive officer, Mr lan Mill, yesterday. It was intended to revamp the calendar, use a higher quality paper and introduce colour to a greater extent, said Mr Mill, who added that negotiations for the changeover had not been completed. “I have been notified
that I will not be required after July,” said Mr Tony Williams, the principal of the company which has produced the “Calendar” for almost nine years and seen its circulation increase by some 300 per cent. “My job is to be advertised and I will be eligible to apply for it, but will not be doing so,” said Mr Williams. Other employees of the company are to be offered positions on the new calendar.
