Nursing training under scrutiny
Nursing training at Christchurch Polytechnic will come under scrutiny. The Education Department is about to review nursing training, and members of the Polytechnic Council have decided they also need to know more about the usefulness of the courses offered. A member of the council, Mr Bob Shackel, said at a council meeting last evening that councillors did not know enough about what hospitals wanted from the graduates.
He was worried that councillors did not know how relevant the courses were to hospital work, or whether hospital staff were satisfied with the courses.
The council decided to hold talks with hospital staff.
