Canty life-savers face testing time

Members of the Canterbury surf life-saving team which beat Victoria in a recent clash in Melbourne, will have their reputations on the line when they compete in the Steinlager-Radio Avon championships at South Brighton today and tomorrow. The successful members of the Canterbury team will have plenty of opponents ready to prove they were worthy of a

place in the provincial side. Paul Bethell, from' the host club, South Brighton, was the outstanding competitor on the Canterbury team’s tour. He is a junior and his performances will be watched with Interest over the week-end. If he continues the superb form he showed in Melbourne he will be difficult to beat in the several events he has entered this weekend.
