NZPA-AAP Canberra A 93-run seventh wicket partnership between South Australians David McNeil and Andrew Zesers saved Australia on the second day of the first Youth Test against New Zealand at Manuka Oval in Canberra. At stumps yesterday Australia was 233 for six, with McNeil not out 52 after bringing up his 50

off the final ball of the day and Zesers, a Sheffield Shield player, was not out 34 after being dropped three times. When they came together after tea Australia was struggling at 140 for six after losing two wickets in the same over. The New Zealanders resumed yesterday morning at 234 for five but had no answer to the Australian new ball attack, par-

ticularly Zesers.

He took four wickets in the first session to finish with four for 65, with the New South Wales fast bowlers, Paul Stepto and Chris Killen, finishing with two for 62 and three for 67 respectively.
