Sir, — It would be of interest to know how many farmers concur with the statement by the editor of the “Journal of Agriculture” that the general manager of Animal Enterprises has been, named the pastoral industry’s: “Man of 1985” Surely, there must be some farmers who have reconsidered after having read of the horrendous journey, of their livelihood (sheep) herded aboard: crammed areas foreign to their natural habitat, and the fact that those which ' survived were, loaded on to trucks for a 16-hour drive to the sub-standard abattoirs, there to be met with no pre-stunning methods and the slitting of their throats to provide an accolade for a human instigator thousands of miles away. — Yours, etc., /.
