Southland survey

PA Wellington Amoco New Zealand Exploration Company has completed about balf of a 1000 km seismic survey in Southland, under an agreement with New Zealand Petroleum, Ltd. The programme is one of the largest to be undertaken in New Zealand and is scheduled for completion this autumn, N.Z. Petroleum said. The work, which involves 130 people, is being done over a large area of petroleum prospecting licence 38074. The agreement between N.Z. Petroleum and Amoco provides for Amoco to earn a 30 per cent undivided interest in the licence in exchange for acquiring and processing 1000 km of seismic data. Amoco has the option to earn an additional 30 per cent interest by doing additional work, including the drilling of two exploration wells before February 1987.
