Jumper’s second chance

NZPA Melbourne Three races in eight days will not worry the Grand National Steeples fancy, Headford Town, according to his New Zealand trainer, Mark Sullivan. Headford Town had his first Australian start last Saturday when he lost his rider at the fifth fence in the Crisp Steeples (3900 m at Flemington.

He will start in the 2600 m Mernda Handicap at Moonee Valley today in preparation for the $61,000 Grand National Steeples (5000 m at Flemington on Saturday. "He clipped the top of one of the fences and dislodged his jockey but wasn’t hurt in the mishap,” said Sullivan, who is making his eighth trip to Australia in eight years.
