Opossums in chimney

Sir, — Replying to C. Bryant’s letter (June 28), could he not spend his time more constructively than in faulting Jim Baggstrom. Avian is greatly in need of gentle people to pick up injured birds in all areas. Jim Baggstrom gives his time, money and health to help mere birds and animals. One can only admire his unselfish way of life and that of his family who help him. Will two opossums do as much harm to our environment as the ever-constant forms of pollution we have arising all over our beautiful country? I think not. Man in his wisdom kills off many species only to find too late they are near extinction; then man protects them. — Yours, etc., R. M. GRANT. June 30, 1983.
