Book restriction lifted

PA Wellington The Indecent Publications Tribunal has lifted an age restriction imposed in 1978 on the American book, “The Hite Report — A Nationwide Study of Female Sexuality.” The tribunal classified the book then as indecent in the hands of persons under 18. Last October, “The Hite Report on Male Sexuality” was held by the tribunal to be not indecent and the

publisher in New Zealand, Paul Hamlyn of Australia, sought reconsideration of the 1978 ruling. The tribunal said that 4Vz years had passed since the age classification was put on the Hite female book and there had been a “great change” in community standards. Because of that and the decision on the male book, Hite’s study on female sexuality was “now classified as not indecent.”
