Golden seam for China
NZPA-Reuter Peking Chinese geologists have discovered a broad seam of high-grade gold ore 13km long in the north-western province of Shaanxi, says the New China News Agency. Provincial authorities reported that the seam, at Yangpingguan close to the border with Sichuan province, was between 100 m and 200 m wide and 7m to 10m deep. The agency said Yangpingguan had good access to rail and road transport. China has rich proven reserves of gold, essentially in Shandong, Heilongjiang, Hubei and Guangxi, but also in Sichuan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, and in the far western Xinjiang region.
