Bravery award supported
PA Wellington A Dutch seaman, Kees Van der Burg, should receive a Royal Humane Society award for his bravery in trying to rescue a lost yachtsman, according to the Ministry of Transport. Mr Van der Burg, the second mate of the cargo ship Jumbo Stella 11, dived into mountainous seas in a bid to save a crewman of the ill-fated yacht Southern Raider, Robert Whitehouse, aged 42.
