Hockey reps busy
The Canterbury women’s hockey team will face its first challenge of the representative season on Sunday when it plays three matches at Sheffield. Canterbury will play Ashburton, Malvern, and South Canterbury. Mrs Pat Barwick, the Canterbury coach, is confident of winning all three games. Mrs Barwick intends to give each of her 14-strong squad at least one game on Sunday. The one disappointing note is the injury to the Harewood centre' forward,
Debbie Armstrong. A knee injury will keep her on the sideline for at least three weeks.
The Canterbury team has a busy representative schedule with a tournament against Nelson, Marlborough and Wellington A and B at Blenheim on July 10; Malvern A and B at Christchurch the following Sunday and Otago and Eastern Southland, also at Christchurch, on July 30 and 31. After a break Otago and Eastern Southland will clash again in Dunedin in the middle of August.
