New show for Radio U
Radio U, the student-run alternative radio station in Christchurch, is really going to show an alternative style this evening, when it broadcasts the first of two-hour shows on musicals, rock operas, and film soundtracks. The programme, which will run from 8 p.m. until .10 6m. every Thursday, will : presented by Callum Hantier and Mark Di Somma. Musicals to be covered by the shows include “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Evita,” “West Side Story,” “A Chorus Line,” “Hair,” and
“Cabaret.” Each show will feature at least one musical with a discussion on the writers and some aspects of the show. Where possible, reviews of the shows by recognised critics will be discussed. Hantier and Di Somma wrote the musical, “It’s Only Natural,” which was premiered at the University of Canterbury in April, and Di Somma also wrote “Anno Domini,” a musical that was presented in Christchurch late in 1980.
This evening’s show will feature “West Side Story.”
