Dance Exponents play farewell shows at the Hillsborough Tavern tomorrow and Saturday evenings, before heading to Australia to mix their album and tour. Apparently the Exponents turned down a farewell show at Mainstreet, Auckland, so they could come south to collect gear and say goodbye, before going to Australia. Supporting the Exponents are a Timaru band, Moggy Men, who have a former Dance Exponent in their midst. Other news is that the Mockers play at the Gladstone Tavern next week, from Thursday until Saturday, and are bringing the Terrors of Tiny Town, from
Auckland, to help out.
The Gladstone this week features Rocko Coco, a new band which has been touring the South Island. Moose Boots, the Green Banana Band, are apparently moving from a residency at the Star and Garter Tavern to a new spot at the Hillsborough Tavern, a venue that has been the subject of noise complaints from nearby residents. The Legionnaires march back to Christchurch later this month, and there is the prospect of Eileen Hamilton and the Chicago Jazz Exchange playing at the Arts Centre on July 19 and 20, as part of a South Island tour. The jazz group have been working in Auckland.
