New Brighton has loss

An increase of $21,806 in rental paid to Addington Raceway, Ltd, is named as a contributing factor in the loss of $37,930 on the New Brighton Trotting Club’s operations for the year. The accounts will be presented to members at the annual meeting at Addington Raceway next Thursday. It is the third successive year that the New Brighton club has shown a loss —

$23,000 last year and $13,041 two years ago.

The rental of $19,371 per race meeting is causing great concern, the Mr Gordon McHerron, says in his report.

Stakes distributed during the season amounted to $274,717 as against $256,175 last season. Stake subsidies and sponsorship rose to $67,800 from $63,625 the previous year.
