Graham meets Pau

An improved performance will be expected from Paul Graham (Barry’s gymnasium) when he meets Fred Pau (Woolston Workingmen’s Club) in the main bout of the Canterbury amateur boxing tournament at the Richmond Workingmen’s Club tomorrow. Graham, the national intermediate lightweight champion, has had two bouts this season. He began

with a comfortable win over Brent Davey (Crichton Cobbers), but was nudged out in a majority points decision by Brendon Lilley (Woolston) last week. The entertaining Pau should prove an able opponent for Graham. Their contest will top a programme of 13 bouts, involving competitors from most Christchurch gymnasiums, Oamaru, Ashburton and the West Coast.
