Cricket tour itinerary
The New Zealand cricket team, a disappointed side after failing to reach the closing stages of the Prudential World Cup, has a chance to redeem itself during its second mission, which starts on Thursday. During the World Cup preliminaries, New Zealand had its first victory over England in England. So far, in 53 test matches between the countries, New Zealand has won only once — at Wellington. The 1983 team has four chances to win a test in England for the first time. The tour itinerary below includes some alternative county matches, depending on whether the chosen opponent is free from the various one-day competitions being played.

Middlesex, Lords; June 14-18, first test, the Oval; July 20-22, v. Nottinghamshire, Trent Bridge (or Worcestershire); July 23-26, v. Warwickshire, Edgbaston (or another county); July 28-August 2, second test, HeadingleyAugust 3-5, v. Northamptonshire, Northampton, (or another county); August 6-8, v. Hampshire, Bournemouth; August 11-16, third test, Lords; August 17-19, v. Essex. Chelmsford (or another county); August 20-22, v. Leicestershire, Leicester; August 25-29, fourth test, Trent Bridge; August 31-Sep-tember 2, v. Brian Close’s XI, Scarborough.
