O’Connor favoured
Mary O’Connor (University) will add a touch of class to the annual Holloway Memorial harrier races at McLeans Island today, sponsored for the first time by P.D.L. Industries. O'Connor was selected last week-end to represent New Zealand in the marathon at the World Athletic Games in Finland in August. She will compete over Bkm in the Holloway race and should win comfortably. Margaret Walker (St Martins), the winner of the women’s section of the Adidas marathon earlier this month, should repeat her last cross-country perform-
ance, when she was second to O’Connor in the Jane Patterson race. But she will have to work hard to hold off O’Connor’s club-mate, Anne-Marie Tweedie. Tony Good (Olympic), Frank Brookes (Toe H) and Grant McEwen (University) should share favouritism in the field of about 300 in the 16km race for senior and veteran men.
