Park remains un-named
The park with no name is causing problems for Waimairi County councillors. At a meeting of the council’s works, reserves, and traffic committed last evening, councillors argued over the naming of the park in Isleworth Road. The council’s recreation planning , and development sub-committee recommended that the park be called Isle-worth-Park. Cr H. M. Tait had other ideas. She wanted the park to be named after the former National member of Parliament for Papaniii, Mr Bert Walker. Mr Walker had done a lot for the area, she said.
Cr I. Calvert said that a local residerit had also done a lot for the area,-arid so why not name it after, tiis? J Finally-thg -counciUbrsciecided that they could not decide on a name, and referred the matter back to the sub-committee for further consideration. - ! Information signs Sports clubs in Waimairi can now put up signs that indiate the whereabouts of their clubs.
