‘Sportsman’ award
A $4OOO prize for the “Sportsman of the Series” has been announced for the Australian cricket tour of New Zealand. The award, sponsored by the Australian board of the Australia-New Zealand Foundation, will be based on the contribution of players to the three test matches and the one-day international matches. The selection of the “Player of the Series” will be made by a committee of six
— the Australian tour manager, Alan Crompton, the New Zealand manager, Frank Cameron, Glenn Turner of Television New Zealand, Alan Richard (Radio New Zealand), Bert Sutcliffe of the Rothmans Foundation, and Dick Brittenden of “The Press.” The same committee has the task of choosing the “Man of the Series” for the best performer in the same six games. This prize is a Toyota Corolla car valued at $13,795.
